We issue grants and scholarships every year worth two and half million euros every year – and that’s not counting our comprehensive programme of additional support and financing.

Of all the private Spanish educational institutions, the Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU is the one which invests the most money in grants and scholarships. As a non-profit foundation, CEU has devoted part of its resources to grants and scholarships for talented students for more than 75 years. We want to support those who have a clear goal and who will work hard to achieve it – stand-out people with a real work ethic.

CEU Merit Programme Scholarships
Up to 100 CEU Merit Scholarships are available for new students.
These scholarships represent a reduction in fees for the year of between 75% and 100%. We’ll also tell you whether you’ve been awarded a scholarship before you get your results from the PAU (Spanish university entrance examinations).
This scholarship programme from the Fundación CEU San Pablo (the CEU Cardenal Herrera University’s parent organization) is available for all bachelor’s degree programmes. Its key characteristics are:
- As part of our commitment to supporting students with a real work ethic, a typical award amounts to a 75% reduction of the cost in fees for the academic year, but can be up to 100%, i.e. no cost at all.

Keep up the hard work and CEU will keep on investing in you: guaranteed.
The CEU Merit Programme scholarships are renewed each academic year, so long as you continue to meet the academic requirements. So, if you keep your average grade at at least the minimum which appears in the scholarship agreement, then you’ll continue to receive it right up to graduation. If you keep it up, there’s no risk, even though the award needs to be renewed each year. This is our promise: if you keep on performing, we’ll keep on helping you. -
Time is in your favour and you’re free to choose.
We’ll let you know if you’ve been awarded a scholarship in early July – this way you’ll still be free to make your choice about your university studies. If we tell you you’ve been awarded a scholarship, then you’ll also know that you have a place at our University and that you can enjoy all the advantages of the CEU Merit Program. And if we tell you that you haven’t got an award, then you will still have time to choose what you want to do: to continue through our admissions process, or, if you prefer, you can ask us to return any fees paid for registration and you can exercise your freedom to choose another university. It’s important to remember that if you cancel your application to study at the university in good time, with a simple email, then the refund of your registration fee is guaranteed. It’s that easy: no further explanation or procedure is required.

The Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU (the parent organization of the CEU Cardenal Herrera University in Valencia, of the CEU San Pablo University in Madrid, and of the Abat Oliba CEU University in Barcelona) provides grants to support students as part of its not-for-profit activities.
The key characteristics of these grants are:
- All students at the University, whether new students or otherwise, can apply for these grants (except Gastronomy students).
- The amount of an award may vary depending on the number of applicants and their circumstances. In previous years, the average award for these grants has ranged between €1300 and €1600 euros.
- The award criteria principally concern family financial circumstances and the student’s academic record. With regard to the student’s family’s financial circumstances, the tax declaration from 2021 will be required.
- Students must also apply for a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education for 2022-23 (Beca del Ministerio de Educación), once the application process has opened.
- The application period will be open from 17 July to 15 September.
Student Assistantships (becas de colaboración)
The Student Assistantships (known as becas de colaboración in Spanish) are a grant programme at the University. The activities the students assistants will undertake are normally related to the competencies required for their degree programme – this means that students will receive both a financial benefit and a boost to their education.
The CEU Cardenal Herrera University offers a comprehensive Student Assistantships programme every year across a range of areas: laboratories, TV and radio studios, the library, cultural activities, international relations, etc. The application process for student assistantships opens in September and awards are made over the course of September and October.
The key characteristics of these grants are:
- The amount the student will receive is defined in the specific information for each student assistantship.
- During the official examination periods, student assistants are not required to undertake activities, except in the case of those assistantships which specifically concern these periods (see the conditions of the assistantship). These weeks with no activity do not affect the amount students receive.
- The specific award criteria depend on the type of student assistantship concerned: you can learn more about these when the application process opens. In general, the most important award criteria are: the suitability of each applicant for the type of student assistantship, the student’s academic record, and the financial circumstances of the student’s family.

Matrícula de Honor Scholarships (awarded for outstanding academic achievement)
The Fundación Universitaria CEU San Pablo awards Matrícula de Honor scholarships to students on any degree who meet the following criteria:
New first-year students:
- Those students who begin their university studies having achieved an average grade of matrícula de honor (the highest possible grade) in Bachillerato (pre-university studies) will be able to undertake the first year of their studies at the University free of charge. This is only applicable to those students who undertook Bachillerato in the academic year prior to admission to the University and who achieved a grade of matrícula de honor for that year. Therefore, it is not applicable for students from other admission pathways, such as transfers, those subject to credit recognition, etc. These Matrícula de Honor Scholarships are also only available to students who have completed Bachillerato within the Spanish education system. Those who have undertaken analogous studies within other education systems are not eligible as there is no direct equivalent of the grade known as matrícula de honor.
During your degree:
- Students who attain a grade of matrícula de honor (the highest possible grade) for a given course will automatically be exempted from the tuition fees corresponding to the equivalent number of ECTS credits for the following academic year. For example, if a CEU UCH student achieves a matrícula de honor grade for a nine-credit course, then he or she will receive a discount corresponding to nine ECTS credits for the following year. If he or she achieves a matrícula de honor grade in several courses, corresponding to 36 ECTS credits, then he or she will receive a discount corresponding to the cost of 36 credits the following year. A complete study-year at the University typically consists of 60 ECTS credits. This kind of Matrícula de Honor Scholarship is available to all enrolled students at the University and it may be linked to other types of scholarships, such as those that form part of the CEU Merit Programme.
Grants from the Ministerio de Educación y Formación Profesional
Students at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University may apply for the grants awarded by Spain’s Ministry of Education y Formación Profesional in the same way as students at any other university in Spain.
They can also apply for any other type of grant provided by public institutions and organizations whose conditions enable students at private universities to receive such grants.
Open call for applications from 19 March to 10 May
Official grants provided by the Valencian regional government, the Generalitat Valenciana.
Students at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University may apply for the grants awarded by the Generalitat Valenciana in the same way as students at any other university in Spain.
If you have in receipt of a grant by Spain’s Ministry of Education, you will not be eligible to receive a grant from the Generalitat Valenciana.
CEU enrolment discounts for those from large families
Students who form part of large families (familia numerosa, as defined in Spanish law) are eligible for the following discounts:
- Large families (general case): 30% discount on the enrolment fee for each academic year.
- Large families (special case): 60% discount on the enrolment fee for each academic year.

Children from families who are FANUCOVA members (the large families’ association in the Valencia region) can benefit from a total of 18 discounted student places, with 25% off tuition fees for each academic year. The study programmes and number of available discounts for each of them is as follows:

In addition to these discounted places, CEU UCH offers all FANUCOVA members the first year of these degrees free of charge if the student concerned achieved an average grade of Sobresaliente (“excellent”) during the two years of their Bachillerato studies. Their studies will continue to be free in subsequent years if the students achieve an average grade of Notable (7/10) in the previous academic year, enrolling on a minimum of 60 ECTS credits per year.

Grants from institutions and companies
The ONCE Foundation, in recognition of the importance of facilitating access to higher education, specialization and the difficulties that people with a disability experience in finding employment, has launched a new edition of its grant programme, entitled Oportunidad al Talento (“opportunity for talent”).
This grant programme builds on the ONCE Foundation’s commitment to social inclusion and equal opportunities for people with a disability and its desire to foster a more inclusive educational model.
Líderes con valores Scholarships from Caixa Popular
Líderes con valores Scholarships from Caixa Popular – what they are
The Líderes con valores (Leaders with Values) Scholarships form part of the Aula Universitaria “Empresas con Vocación Social” initiative from Caixa Popular and CEU UCH. Their aim is to enhance the potential of those who stand out for their academic performance and extracurricular activities. In this way, these students can become excellent professionals who can contribute to the improvement of society.
Who they are for
Students from the following bachelor's degrees (grados) are eligible to apply for these grants: Business Management, Law, and Marketing.
This initiative is for students who have both an excellent academic record and a strong interest in social commitment.
Advantages
The benefits for those awarded a scholarship are:
- a €2000 discount on the annual fees for their degree.

Students who are awarded a scholarship will have the right to:
- Take part in a selection process for a four-month internship at Caixa Popular.
- Those students who are selected and undertake an internship at Caixa Popular will also take part in a career development programme (Programa de Desarrollo Profesional Avanzado, PDPA).
- Students who impress during the four-month period may be offered an employment contract by Caixa Popular. However, Caixa Popular may, at its own discretion, choose not to offer any contracts. Caixa Popular is not obliged to offer an employment contract to students who undertake its career programme (Programa de Empleo para Jóvenes con Talento).
- The scholarships are awarded on an annual basis. Those who are awarded a scholarship may re-apply for the following year, meaning that a student may hold a scholarship for more than one year.
Application deadline and selection criteria
Students have until 30th November 2023 to submit their application for a Líderes con valores Scholarship, offered by Caixa Popular and CEU UCH.
Second, third or fourth-year undergraduates in Law, Marketing or Business Management at CEU UCH, including those undertaking dual degrees, are eligible for a "Líderes con valores" scholarship.
When considering applications, the committee will take the following into account:
- The student's academic record in comparison with other applicants.
- The motivation shown by the student in a covering letter submitted in support of their application.
- The ability to speak one or more foreign languages. For this purpose, the standard certifications of language level will be deemed acceptable. Only knowledge of foreign languages, rather than those which are co-official languages in different regions of Spain, will be considered as meritorious.
- The applicant's social and extracurricular activities. For this, the student may present records of the activities undertaken and/or letters of recommendation from those responsible for the activities undertaken.
Commitment: we want socially committed leaders
Caixa Popular and la CEU UCH wish to encourage students' social commitment, which is why we ask scholarship-holders to undertake 30 hours' worth of social activities. The social activities in which the students will participate will form part of initiatives organized by Caixa Popular and CEU UCH.

A unique programme
The CEU Athlete Support Programme enables students to successfully combine their educational commitments with a career in sport, and it also ensures that these athletes can build another career after their sporting retirement.
CEU's educational expertise and use of the Hyflex teaching method means that we can offer elite athletes the tailor-made and flexible university education they need, wherever they may be, providing personalised support and tutoring.

- Guidance in the choice of study programme and design of a curriculum tailored to each athlete’s needs, preferences and characteristics.

Veterinary Student Assistantships at the CEU UCH veterinary hospital
Veterinary student assistantships (becas de veterinarios internos) are offered at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University’s Hospital Clínico Veterinario, for clinical work with large and small animals.
Information and registrationCEU International Placement Scholarships for 5th-year Medicine students
CEU is proud to be the first University in Spain to offer its students scholarships to undertake clinical placements at prestigious hospitals in the United States.
The aim of this initiative is to enhance our students' education and training. The Faculty of Medicine has one of the highest proportions of international students in Europe, and is the first faculty in Spain to offer clinical placements in the USA supported by a scholarship programme.
The scholarship programme provides the funding for students to undertake three five-week clinical rotations as part of the compulsory external practical training component for 6th-year students. The placements will take place at prestigious healthcare institutions in Chicago and New York.
The scholarship includes:
- Funding for three clinical rotations at US hospitals together with a learning plan enabling the training to be formally recognized in Spain – students must undertake a further two rotations on their return to complete the external practical training component for the sixth year of the Medicine degree.
- Liability (required for placements in the USA), and assistance in applying for a visa and looking for accommodation.
Intraemprende Banco Santander and CEU Grants
Programme aiming to complement students’ education at Spanish universities by giving them insights into professional situations, broadening their knowledge, helping them to network with businesses and boosting their employability.
These grants give recipients the opportunity to undertake two-month paid placements, enabling students to undertake an innovative project with the partner company.
Students enrolled at Spanish universities and companies located in Spain can apply to participate.

Grants for victims of terrorism in the Valencia region
The CEU Cardenal Herrera University offers grants covering all fees at the university to victims of terrorism who are members of the association known as the Asociación de Víctimas del Terrorismo de la Comunidad Valenciana, and to their direct descendants. These grants are available for all bachelor’s degree programmes, except the foreign language streams of specific study programmes or those which are partly or wholly taught in English or French.
Scholarships provided by CEU and CONCAPA
The parents’ association Confederación de Padres de Familia y Padres de Alumnos de la Comunidad Valenciana (CONCAPA-CV) and CEU UCH have a specific agreement to offer 50 scholarships. These scholarships enable the recipients to undertake the first year of any degree free of charge, if they have achieved an average grade of at least Sobresaliente (“excellent”) over the two years of their Bachillerato studies. Their studies will continue to be free in subsequent years if they achieve an average grade of Notable (7/10) each year, enrolling on a minimum of 60 ECTS credits per year.
Furthermore, pupils from CONCAPA-associated schools will be guaranteed admission during the ordinary admissions process at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, if they apply by 31st May of the corresponding year, they meet the legal requirements at the time of enrolment and there are places available. In the case of admission to the Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, admissions follow the specific admissions process for this programme.

Students at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University may apply for the grants awarded by Spain’s Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in the same way as students at any other university in Spain.
They can also apply for any other type of grant provided by public institutions and organizations whose conditions enable students at private universities to receive such grants.
Alumni discounts
Our Alumni can benefit from a discount of up to 15% on our Master’s programmes. Consult the section on student fees in the postgraduate programme concerned to view the discount available.
Postgraduate Student Assistantships (ayudas de colaboración)
These assistantships aim to provide postgraduate students with financial support in exchange for assisting the Coordinator of the Master’s degree concerned.
The CEU Cardenal Herrera University will offer a Postgraduate Student Assistantship for each edition of each Master’s Degree programme.* Those interested can apply for these Assistantships during the admissions process by contacting the Master’s Degree Coordinator directly.
Award decisions for these Assistantships will be based on the applicant’s suitability for the activities to be undertaken and his or her academic record.
Examples of a Student Assistant’s responsibilities are: reporting on Master’s Degree activities, supporting the management of social media accounts or occasional creation of posters or other visual materials, or other tasks suitable to the student’s skills and availability.
The key characteristics of these grants are:
- The award amount will correspond to 30% of the total cost of the Master’s Degree, up to a maximum of €2000.
- Only one Postgraduate Student Assistantship will be available for each edition of a Master’s Degree programme.

- The amount of time the student will need to spend on Assistantship duties will vary according to the needs of the programme.
- Applicants will be notified of the award decision before enrolling and will be informed of the expected duties at that point.

We are launching this new programme of Postgraduate CEU-Santander Grants in order to support students with the payment of student fees in 2020-21 for official Master’s Degrees and other postgraduate programmes at CEU Universities.

CEU Merit International Program Grants
At University CEU Cardenal Herrera, we want to ensure that our international students receive the necessary financial support to carry out their studies with us. Therefore, the San Pablo CEU University Foundation has launched the CEU Merit International Program, with grants that can reduce the academic fees by up to 100% for your degree.
The conditions are:
- Having an average grade of 7 points in first year of baccalaureate or equivalent (penultimate year of university access preparation)
- Fulfilling the basic requirements of the program’s bases

Insurance for the continuation of studies
Cover provided:
Every undergraduate student at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University is provided with insurance for the continuation of their studies: this ensures that they can continue with their studies even if their biological parents, adoptive parents or legal guardians die during the academic year.
Objective:
This insurance provides cover to undergraduate students at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University in the case of the death of a parent or legal guardian, regardless of the cause of this.
Cover:
Insured students will benefit from complete coverage of the costs of their studies from the moment of the death (of their father, mother, or legal guardian) up to their graduation from the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, apart from the costs corresponding to courses the student has to repeat, which must be paid for by the student.
Additional cover:
• Additional cover in case of the death of both parents in the same accident.
• Psychological care for offspring or partner in the case of the death of the insured.

Seguro escolar (“educational insurance”) for those of 28 years of age or older
Cover provided
Students who are 28 or older are not eligible for cover by the standard seguro escolar even if they have not yet completed their studies when they reach this age. For this reason, the CEU Cardenal Herrera University ensures that the many students of this type are provided with specific accident insurance cover during educational activities.
Objective:
This insurance provides students aged 28 or older with accident insurance cover during educational activities.
Cover:
Medical care in the case of an educational accident and financial compensation due to death or permanent disability caused by to the natural, direct and exclusive consequences of such an accident.
Beneficiaries:
The beneficiary of the cover provided by this insurance is the student concerned, except in the case compensation provided to death in an accident. In such a case, the beneficiaries will be the student’s family members.
Requirements:
To be 28 years of age or older and to be enrolled at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University.
Ámbito temporal:
Durante su estancia en el centro, salidas organizadas por el Centro y desplazamientos in-itinere, en el curso escolar en vigor.
Scope:
Students are covered during their time on the facilities, excursions organized by the institution, and commuting to and from the facilities during the academic year.
Time limits on claims:
Claims must be submitted within seven days of the educational accident occurring.

Groupama accident report, including the place, date and time at which the accident took place, its cause and a medical certificate.

Seguro escolar (“educational insurance”)
Cover provided
The Mutualidad del Seguro Escolar (“mutual educational insurance fund”) was set up in 1953 to provide insurance cover for students affected by an accident, illness or significant change in family circumstances. This cover is provided to students from Spain and certain other countries who are undertaking secondary or higher education here.
Students can only enjoy this cover until they are 28 years of age, even if they have not completed their studies when they reach this age. Cover will be provided for the complete academic year in which they reach the above age.
Those students who are employed or self-employed, therefore being the PRIMARY BENEFICIARIES of their own health insurance cover, will not be covered by the seguro escolar for the purposes of medical care and must use their own health insurance cover.
Premiums
The annual premium the student must pay is included within the enrolment fee paid at the beginning of each academic year. Spain’s social security agency, the Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social, manages the scheme.
Body responsible
The organization responsible for recognizing the rights of those affiliated to the scheme and providing cover is the provincial office of the social security agency at which the affiliation application was presented (Dirección Provincial del Instituto Nacional de Seguridad Social (INSS)). In the case of the provision of healthcare, the body responsible will be the provincial office of the social security agency in the province in which the healthcare was provided.
Cover
Coverage by this educational insurance scheme is applied for by means of official forms which can be obtained from social security information offices (Centros de atención e Información de la Seguridad Social (CAISS)), at which user queries can be answered in person or in writing. Each form details the minimum requirements which must be met and these forms must submitted to these offices. To facilitate the process for students, the University’s General Secretary’s Office will provide these forms to students directly and submit them to CAISS.
The cover provided by the SEGURO ESCOLAR includes:
- Educational accident: Complete medical and pharmaceutical cover, hospitalization, surgical procedures and financial compensation in the case of disability or death, depending on the given circumstances. An educational accident (accidente escolar) is understood to be an accident occurring due to activities exclusively related to the affected person’s status as a student.
- Tuberculosis: Both pulmonary and skeletal tuberculosis are covered and this cover includes hospitalization with medical and pharmaceutical care for a maximum of three years.
- Surgery: This cover must be requested before the procedure takes place, except in the case of emergency procedures, in which case recognition of the right to receive cover must be requested within three months of being discharged from the hospital participating in the scheme.
- All expenses related to diagnosis, food and board, medical and pharmaceutical care and surgery are covered, except with regard to pathologies not included within the protection provided by the Seguro Escolar.
- If the student wishes to use the medical and healthcare services of an organization not participating directly in the scheme, cover will be provided up to the maximum amounts specified in the scheme. Any difference between these amounts and the fees of the organization concerned must be met by the student.
- Neuropsychiatry: Cover is provided for hospitalization of up to one year in cases of schizophrenia, drug addiction, and serious mental illness. Post-hospitalization care, or care without hospitalization, can be provided for six months, a period which may be extended.
- Significant change in family circumstances: this concerns the death of the head of the family, or family bankruptcy. Cover will be provided for the number of years that the student requires to complete their studies. This cover must be requested every academic year (known as a Prórroga de Infortunio Familiar) until the studies concerned are completed.
- Obstetrics: Cover for care during pregnancy and birth is provided.
- Rehabilitation: Cover is provided for expenses related to functional rehabilitation required as a consequence of an educational accident or a surgical procedure recommended by the doctor in charge of the case. The number of sessions is generally limited to 30.

- Nationals from EU countries and those from countries who are parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
- Refugees or stateless persons who reside in the above countries.
- All foreign students who are resident in Spain under the same conditions as Spanish nationals.
