Learning a second language is one of the best ways of improving your employability. To help you achieve this goal, we can provide you with language training and enable you to gain qualifications across the different language levels of the CEFR (the Common European Framework for Languages).

We run language courses for English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Chinese, which are open to all our students, to the university community and even to those not affiliated with the CEU UCH. In order to ensure our students are able to grasp the professional opportunities in today’s globalized job market, we have also implemented innovative ventures such as The Hub 101 and we organize exams at the University at discounted prices for those who wish to gain language qualifications.

Accreditation exams at the CEFR levels of B1, C1 and C2 are organized on the three University campuses. There are two types:

  • CIEACOVA - Official exams recognized by the JQCV (Junta Qualificadora de Coneixements de Valencià, the Valencian Language Exam Board). Anyone can register for these exams which are supervised by CIEACOVA (the Commissió Interuniversitària d’Estandarització I Acreditació de Coneixements de Valencià, the Interuniversity Board for the Standardization and Accreditation of Knowledge of the Valencian Language, which was established in September 2015 – for more information, visit www.cieacova.com). The exams all take place on the same day, at the same time, with the same exam being set and standard marking criteria being used across the seven universities which have members on the Board: UJI, UA, UMH, UPV, UV, UCV and UCH. Successful exam candidates are awarded official certificates by the JQCV.
  • PAAC - Pruebas de Acreditación y Acceso a la Capacitación. These are university-internal tests, for accreditation and access to the Capacitació de Valencià. These exams are only valid internally at the UCH, exclusively for the purpose of the CCEV and DMV courses. B1, C1 and C2 exams are organized at the end of April and no specific certificates are issued. These exams are aimed at: students on the CCEV and DMV courses who have not been able to pass the Competencia Lingüística module in previous years; students currently taking this module (including Primary Education students who are part of the PEIM programme); and those who wish to study on the CCEV or DMV courses in the following academic year and wish to pass this exam instead of undertaking the Competencia Lingüística module (C1 for the CCEV and C2 for the DMV).
