Languages Service
We provide you with the opportunity to learn languages at the different levels which form part of the CEFR.
Those who can speak more than one language possess a key skill, making them more employable. To help you achieve this goal, we can provide you with language training and help you to gain qualifications at different levels of CEFR (the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
We run English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Chinese courses, which are open to all our students, to the university community and even to those not affiliated with CEU UCH. To help our students grasp the professional opportunities of today’s international job market, we offer innovative activities at The HUB 101 and we organize official language examinations at the University at discounted prices.

Classroom-based Spanish courses:
A range of degrees require international students to achieve sufficient proficiency in Spanish to be able to participate successfully in academic activities and practical training. To help you do this, we teach Spanish classes for each degree, from an A1 level through to C1. - Classroom-based Valencian courses: Valencian language courses to prepare students for official Valencian language examinations at different CEFR levels. CIEACOVA is the examination board (for which a CEU UCH staff member has held the post of Secretary since 2019).

Valencian
The CEU UCH organizes language courses to prepare candidates for the official CIEACOVA examinations at the CEFR levels of C1 (Suficiència, Mitjà) and C2 (Superior). Information regarding upcoming courses is usually published in May.

For the different admission and accreditation processes at CEU UCH, the Languages Service is responsible for the recognition of language certificates issued by external providers. Only those certificates which were obtained via an IN-PERSON examination will be recognized as valid.
For English, we now offer Cambridge Assessment English’s Linguaskill exam, with which undergraduates can meet the University’s English language requirements. Students can also use this test to support their application for the Erasmus Mobility Programme or postgraduate programmes.
For Spanish, the Language Service offers students the opportunity to sit the Instituto Cervantes’s DELE and SIELE exams.
In addition, CEU UCH organises official C1 and C2 examinations in Valencian (formerly known as Mitjà and Superior, respectively). The examinations are set by CIEACOVA, a body approved by the official body for Valencian language qualifications, the Junta Qualificadora de Coneixements de Valencià (Orden 7/2017, DOGV núm. 7993, de 06.03.2017).
Exclusively for undergraduates

The LINGUASKILL examination, set by Cambridge Assessment English, this enables you to quickly certify you level of English. This is the option for you if you need to obtain a certificate urgently in order to enrol for the end-of-degree project (TFG), or apply for the Erasmus Mobility Programme or a postgraduate programme.
The exam comprises three modules, which you can take independently. Candidates always sit the exam on a computer, but the Languages Service only offers such examinations in the in-person mode and only recognizes certificates achieved via this mode (i.e. NOT examinations undertaken remotely, from home etc.).

Examen ECIE (Examen de Competencia Idiomática de Español):
This university-internal exam assesses whether students have attained a CEFR B1 level in the Spanish language. International students who are not native speakers of Spanish must reach this level of ability in order to be able to successfully participate in academic activities and practical training in Spanish.
Students can also demonstrate that they possess a B1 level of Spanish by presenting one of the Spanish language certificates recognized by ACLES. -
Language tests for the ERASMUS programme:
In collaboration with the International Relations Office, the Languages Service organizes these language tests, which students wishing to receive an ERASMUS grant must pass.

The LINGUASKILL exam, set by Cambridge Assessment English. This is a fast, accurate and reliable multi-level test, with results available within 48 hours. The exam tests all levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages between the initial A1 level up to C1. The examination is recognized as a valid by CRUE (the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities) and ACLES (Association of Language Centres in Higher Education in Spain).

- Exámenes DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera), A2, B1, & B2 levels. The DELE exams are set by the Instituto Cervantes and enjoy international recognition. More information

Valencian
- CEU UCH is a member of CIEACOVA (Comissió Interuniversitària d'Estandardització d'Acreditacions de Coneixements de Valencià), the Valencian language examination board in higher education.
- CIEACOVA was set up by the rectors of seven public and private universities in the Comunitat Valenciana (the Valencia region). It was set up in September 2015 to standardize the Valencian language certificates issued by the languages services of these universities.
- CIEACOVA certificates are fully recognised by the official Valencian language examination body, the JQCV, by virtue of Orden 7/2017, of 2 March 2017 (DOGV no. 7993, 06.03.2017).
- CIEACOVA examination dates are announced on www.cieacova.com.
NPLEASE NOTE::
- Between 2013 and 2017, CEU UCH conducted six university-internal Valencian language examinations according the CEFR. These were known as Pruebas de Acreditación y Acceso a la Capacitació (PAAC) and took place on the following dates: 21/9/2013, 21/6/2014, 25/4/2015, 27/6/2015, 30/4/2016 and 29/4/2017. These examinations took place for the purpose of issuing the Capacitació de Valencià certificate.
- Of these examinations, the JQCV only recognized the 2015 tests, taking place on 25/4/2015, 27/6/2015. Official certificates (C1 and C2) were only issued for these two PAAC tests, and not for the others.
- The first official CIEACOVA examination at CEU UCH took place in JUNE 2016. Further examinations at CEU took place in SEPTEMBER 2016, MAY-JUNE 2017, JUNE 2018 and JUNE 2019, as stated in the records on the CIEACOVA website. In 2020, the MAY-JUNE examination was cancelled due to COVID-19. In 2021, CEU expects to organize examinations in both JANUARY and JUNE.

The Hub 101
The HUB 101 is a venue with an international atmosphere which aims to promote the cooperation and participation of all students in a range of activities. By bringing Spanish and international students together, The HUB 101 provides greater opportunities for interaction with speakers of target languages and increased confidence for learners. Students can also engage in autonomous study here, read a range of language-learning materials or watch TV series and films in a number of different languages. The HUB 101 is located on the first floor of the Luis Campos Górriz building.
The Hub 101 also can also offer you:
- Computers and language learning materials
- A wide variety of activities to improve your language skills
- Workshops in English and Spanish on a range of issues of interest to students
- Language exchanges (tándem) and discussion groups.
