The Vice-Rectory of Students and University Life of CEU Cardenal Herrera University (Valencia, Spain) is organizing PROYECTA, the 17th edition of the University Audiovisual Creation Competition, which is open to all university students and film school students.

This contest aims to encourage creativity and initiative of students, encourage exhibition and reflection on audiovisual production, as well as promote human values through audiovisual creation.

Following the instructions specified in the registration process, the works will be sent by hosting in a cloud system providing the download link, as well as the password, if any, and adjusting to the format indicated below: Mp4 or Mp5 with a resolution of 1920x1080 25P, using a codec h264 0 h265 with the audio in AAC to 128Kbps and 48 Khz.

PRESENTATION

The Vice-Rectory of Students and University Life of CEU Cardenal Herrera University (Valencia, Spain) is organizing PROYECTA, the 17th edition of the University Audiovisual Creation Competition, which is open to all university students and film school students.

Article 1.- ORGANIZATION

The Organizing Committee is made up of members of the CEU Cardenal Herrera University.

Article 2.- PARTICIPANTS

a) PROYECTA is open to all university students of Communication degrees and cinematography schools of any nationality. To present audiovisual products, at least the director and the scriptwriter or creative will have to prove their status as students.

b) Alumni of the last two promotions of the San Pablo CEU Foundation may also present themselves and that they be the director, scriptwriter or creative of the work presented.

c) The participating works will be identified in the projection with the name of their director and with the name of the center to which they belong.

Article 3.- CATEGORIES

Several categories are established for the audiovisual works in competition. The maximum duration includes credits.

FICTION (short film, web series, video creation ...) (maximum duration 20 minutes)

DOCUMENTARY (maximum duration 20 minutes)

MUSIC VIDEO (maximum duration 10 minutes)

COMMERCIALS (maximum duration 5 minutes)

Article 4.- PARTICIPATION RULES

a) Participants may submit as many works as they want in any of the categories.

b) Participants must be holders of the intellectual property rights of their works or have the authorization of their owners. They also guarantee that there are no third-party rights for the use of pre-existing works, music, or any claim for image rights of the people who appear in them. The organization of the Contest is exempt from any liability that may arise from the violation of this rule.

c) The theme of the Contest is free. Those creations that promote peace, human dignity, solidarity, understanding, harmony, respect for all religions, as well as the rejection of violence and fundamentalism will be especially valued. Works that violate the values of the CEU Cardenal Herrera University will not be accepted in the competition.

d) Those works that have received some type of financial aid from a public or private television channel or that have been made within an agency or production company for commercial purposes may not participate. The Organizing Committee may reject any work that it understands that goes against the spirit of the contest, which is to favor the creation of audiovisual works by students.

e) Following the instructions specified in the registration process, the works will be sent by hosting in a cloud system providing the download link, as well as the password, if any, and adjusting to the format indicated below: Mp4 or Mp5 with a resolution of 1920x1080 25P, using a codec h264 0 h265 with the audio in AAC to 128Kbps and 48 Khz.

f) The lack of technical quality or the impossibility of reproduction due to not adhering to the two formats detailed in these bases will justify the exclusion of the pieces presented.

g) The submitted works must be accompanied by their corresponding technical sheet and production date, which must be after May 31, 2022. The category in which they are registered will be indicated, although the final decision is the authority of the Organizing Committee in this regard.

h) Works will be accepted in Spanish or Valencian without the need for subtitles. If the works are in any other language, they must be subtitled in Spanish or English. Those that are not incorporated in the copy itself are not admitted as subtitles.

i) Along with the artistic merits of the works, those productions that facilitate access to people with functional diversity, through the incorporation of subtitling, audio-description and interpretation in sign language, in the terms specifically established will be positively valued, in general audiovisual legislation, which regulates the conditions of access and non-discrimination in audiovisual content.

j) Enrollment in this Contest implies full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, as well as the resolution by the Organization of any circumstance not provided for there in.

Article 5.- REGISTRATION

Registration will be made by the director of the work, who must comply with the provisions of these Terms. It must accompany:

a) The registration form provided on the PROYECTA website by the CEU Cardenal Herrera University itself, which will specify, among other information, the category to which it is submitted.

b) The inscription will be considered confirmed when it is received via the web, provided that it meets the requirements of articles 4, 5 and 6 of these Terms.

Article 6.- DELIVERY PERIOD

Audiovisual pieces presented until October 16, 2023 will be accepted.

Article 7.- SELECTION

The Organizing Committee will select the finalist works of the Contest and they will be evaluated by the Jury. The titles of the selected works will be published on the PROYECTA website.

Article 8.- JURY

The Organizing Committee will designate a Jury for each category, made up of a representative of the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, who will have a casting vote, and members who will be professionals from the audiovisual sector.

The Juries may declare any of the Contest prizes void. The criteria of the Juries and their decisions will be irrevocable and unappealable. The Juries may award honorable mentions.

The Organizing Committee will summon the finalists of each category to attend the award ceremony.

Article 9.- AWARDS

Fiction:

  • First prize: € 1,000
  • Second prize: € 500

Documentary:

  • First prize: € 900
  • Second prize: € 450

Music video:

  • First prize: € 800
  • Second prize: € 400

Commercials/Branded content:

  • First prize: € 800
  • Second prize: € 400

The organization of the Contest will make the payment of the prizes to the student who has registered the work, without entering the distribution mode with the members of their team or in the systems established internally by the centers to which they belong.

The amounts will be subject to tax withholdings established by current legislation.

Article 10.- PUBLIC DISSEMINATION

The selected works may be disseminated through any means and support by the CEU Cardenal Herrera University and the San Pablo CEU University Foundation in institutional, scientific, academic and cultural activities or media, as well as through non-profit agreements with third parties. The CEU Cardenal Herrera University may make use of the exploitation rights of the selected works in the publication of dissemination materials of the Contest, without prejudice to the legitimate exploitation and moral rights that belong to their authors.

The finalist works will be exhibited in the Auditorium of the CEU UCH University. After the exhibition of the works, the awards and trophies awarded by the jury will be held.

The contest will be managed by the Organizing Committee, whose members are appointed by the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences.
